SAP and Odoo from one team – connect, migrate, run side by side.
We consult in both worlds and build the bridge between them. Use SAP where it is strong and Odoo where it is faster, cheaper and more flexible – without your teams having to maintain data twice.
Why know both systems?
SAP is a given in many groups and larger mid-sized companies. Odoo grows where companies want to work fast, modular and cost-consciously. In practice both meet: in subsidiaries, after acquisitions, at new sites or when replacing a legacy system.
Those who know only one system usually recommend exactly that one. We know both – with consulting and development experience in SAP FI, CO, MM and ABAP as well as more than 15 years of experience with Odoo. That lets us weigh options properly and implement the connection technically.
For you this means one contact instead of two service providers pointing at each other. When a posting does not arrive, we do not ask whose fault it is. We look into both systems and fix it.
And because we are mid-sized entrepreneurs ourselves, we keep an eye on what matters at the end of the month: finance, controlling and tax. An interface is only good if the figures on both sides match.
What we do for you.
SAP ↔ Odoo interfaces
Exchange of master data, orders, deliveries, invoices and postings – via IDoc, RFC/BAPI, OData or file; on the Odoo side via the XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API. With monitoring and error handling, so that a failed transfer is noticed before the accounts department does.
Migration to Odoo
Planned move from SAP, legacy systems or isolated tools to Odoo: data analysis, cleansing, test migrations, cut-over. We rehearse the move several times before it counts – with a clear schedule and reconciled balances and stock levels.
Coexistence / two-tier ERP
Odoo as a second-tier system for subsidiaries, plants or sales companies alongside the SAP group system. Consolidation, intercompany flows and reporting stay consistent. The site gets a system that fits its size, and the group gets the figures it needs.
SAP consulting FI, CO, MM
Customising, process optimisation and enhancements in finance, controlling and materials management. Support for stable SAP environments.
ABAP development
Custom development in ABAP and ABAP OO: reports, enhancements, interface modules – documented and release-ready. We build what is needed on the SAP side for the connection ourselves, so nobody has to wait for a third party.
Odoo implementation
Implementation of Odoo for sales, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, projects and accounting – Community or Enterprise, on-premise or hosted. Custom modules where the standard isn't enough. E-invoicing is standard with us, AI is on board from the start if you wish.
Four situations in which SAP and Odoo meet.
The acquired business
You have taken over a company that works with an old ERP, spreadsheets or nothing at all. A full SAP rollout would tie up your team for a long time. Odoo gets the new business up and running quickly and reports to the group via an interface.
The new site or sales company
A new branch needs quotations, orders, a warehouse and invoices – from day one. Odoo can go live with just a few modules and grow with the site. Customers, items and prices come from SAP, so nothing is entered twice.
The department that SAP does not really cover
Service, CRM, project business or a web shop often run alongside SAP in separate tools. Odoo bundles these areas in one interface that your staff enjoy using. SAP remains the leading system for finance and materials management.
The move away from SAP
Some mid-sized companies find that their SAP system has become too big and too expensive for what they actually do. Then we check soberly whether a move to Odoo pays off – and if so, plan it step by step instead of as a big bang.
Odoo as a second-tier system alongside SAP.
A typical case: the parent company runs SAP. A smaller subsidiary, a new plant or an acquired business needs a full ERP – but SAP would be too heavy, too expensive and too slow to roll out there.
Odoo takes over day-to-day operations on site: sales, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, local accounting. Through a defined interface, master data flows from the group to Odoo, and posting and stock data flows back to SAP. Consolidation stays where it is.
- Fast rollout at the site, lower licence and operating cost
- Group requirements for chart of accounts, cost centres and reporting are maintained
- Clear ownership: which system is master for which data?
- The later decision – extend Odoo or move to SAP – remains open
A good interface starts with clear rules.
Technology is rarely the problem when connecting SAP and Odoo. What is usually missing are agreements: who creates a new customer? Where is a price changed? Which system has the last word on stock?
That is why we first define with you a leading system for each type of data. Only then do we build. This saves rework and prevents two departments from maintaining the same data in different places.
- Master data: customers, suppliers, items, prices – maintained once, available in both systems
- Transaction data: orders, deliveries, invoices and stock movements, transferred automatically
- Finance: postings with the account, cost centre and tax code that your group accounting expects
- Monitoring: an overview of what has been transferred, what is pending and what needs attention
How we work.
Analysis
We review your processes, systems and interfaces – on site or remotely. We talk to the people who work with them every day, not only to IT. Result: a clear list of what works and where it gets stuck.
Concept
You receive a solution proposal with system landscape, scope, sequence and effort estimate. It states which system is master for which data and what we deliberately leave out. No black box, no surprises.
Implementation in stages
We implement in short stages, test with your key users and go live step by step. Every stage delivers something you can use. Training is part of it – at fair rates and tailored to what your staff really need.
Operations
After go-live we stay available: support, enhancements, updates and a regular look at new potential. We also handle small adjustments hands-on, without turning each one into a project.
What we are asked most often.
No. In many projects SAP stays exactly where it is. Odoo complements it in the areas where you need more speed or flexibility, and both systems exchange data via an interface. Whether a full move makes sense at some point is a separate decision that you can take later.
That depends on your SAP release, your data volumes and what your SAP team permits. IDoc, RFC/BAPI, OData and file exchange all have their place. We recommend the simplest option that reliably meets your requirements – not the most elaborate one.
Errors happen – a blocked account, a missing item, a system that is briefly unavailable. What matters is that somebody notices. That is why monitoring, clear error messages and a defined process for reprocessing are part of every interface we build.
We do, if you wish. We also document the solution and train your staff so that you can handle day-to-day matters yourselves. Since Odoo is open source, you are not tied to a single service provider.
What role could Odoo play in your SAP landscape?
In 30 minutes we clarify where you stand, what is worth doing and what a sensible next step looks like. No obligation, no slide show.
